Health and Science
Repent – Heal – Transform
Let us repent by confessing our sins and ask God to transform the sphere of Health, Science and Medicine.
Repentance requires true brokenness. Repentance is an honest, regretful acknowledgement of sin with commitment to change. Repentance leads us to cultivate godliness while eradicating habits that lead into sin.
Heavenly Father, we come to ask your forgiveness. Forgive us, oh Lord for everything that we have done. Jesus, please hear our prayers. Help us to grow from strength to strength to become the people you want us to be.
“And the son said unto him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.’” [Luke 15:21]
Healing: the prophet Isaiah set forth an incredible picture of the coming Jewish Messiah in the 53rd chapter; “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) According to the prophets, the Messiah would suffer, bleed and die for His people. He would be cut off in death, but rise again in power. He would be wounded, bruised, chastised and striped in order to purchase our salvation and bring deliverance from sin, sickness and eternal death. In the New Testament Peter records Christ’s terrible sufferings as our substitute: “Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by Whose stripes ye were healed.” (1 Peter 2:24).
Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross, thank you for shedding your blood for us. We believe that by your stripes we are healed from all our physical and spiritual sicknesses. You redeemed us from all curses. We give you our hearts today and we accept you as our Lord and saviour for ever and ever. Amen
Transformation of inner-self takes place when we truly repent; ask Jesus to heal us and ask Him to transform our mind, body and soul; “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26)
Soul of Christ, sanctify us; Body of Christ, save us; Blood of Christ, inebriate us; Water from the side of Christ, wash us; Passion of Christ, strengthen us; O good Jesus, hear us; within Thy wounds, hide us; let us never be separated from Thee; from the evil one, deliver us; at the hour of our death, call us and bid us come to Thee, that with Thy saints, we may praise Thee forever and ever. Amen. (Anima Christi)
Testimony
Rev. Thomas R. Rogers, Ph.D. shares with us that stories about people who were healed through prayer are abundant. Christine Hughes, a nursing student at the University of Texas with an interest in the holistic approach to nursing (involving mind, body, and spirit); Christine did a case study on a patient whose cancer tests revealed abnormal cells. The woman went to her church and was the object of healing prayers there. On her subsequent tests, her cells had returned to normal. Hughes was impressed. Then, the case led her to an even more extraordinary story. Hughes learned that the woman’s grandmother had once been diagnosed with advanced cancer and had been the object of healing prayers. Her advanced cancer also disappeared (Hughes, 1997). Witnessing these kinds of results leads to the question, “Why aren’t people who are in the healing professions more involved with prayer to promote healing?”
While hospitals usually do welcome the clergy to pray with patients and that they usually maintain a hospital chapel, it is also true that not many of us can attest to healing sessions that involved prayer with the medical personnel of hospitals.
We need both Healing and Medicine. God gave His blessings upon doctors, nurses, Health researches, and many people in the Health industry to show His glory.
Healthcare, Medicine and Pharmacy
This covers the holistic health and wellness of individuals, as well as pharmaceutical production and sales. As the Australian population is generally living longer, the demand for long-term healthcare and preventive treatment as well as residential programs continues to grow.
The workforce in this sector includes a range of occupations and services providing diagnostic, rehabilitation, healing and preventive services. There is a wide variety of careers and occupations in the healthcare and medical field, from administrative roles and pharmaceutical sales, to registered nurses, physicians, specialised practitioners and technicians. Professionals in healthcare typically work in hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, surgeries, private practices, laboratories and clinics.
Healthcare and medical professions are considered a vocation more than a job. People interested to work in this field should be prepared to work long shifts and varied hours. Nursing schedules typically include rotating 12-hour shifts and physicians working in hospitals may need to be on-call during weekends and work night shifts. Nursing aides and home care assistants may need to work 6-7 days a week helping clients/patients with daily activities. Healthcare professionals deal directly with patients in different capacities and should be willing to work with people and promote health and wellness. They should be sensitive to patient needs as well as highly analytical to diagnose problems and illnesses and offer treatments.
Prayer of Doctors
Lord Jesus Christ, you are the great Physician of our souls. During your life on earth, you healed the sick and even brought the dead back to life.
From your heavenly abode, continue to be the Divine Physician for your people and bless the noble work to which you have called me.
Make me truly wise in my medical judgements and genuinely sympathetic in my dealings with patients.
Dear Lord, guide my mind and my hands and inspire me with words of comfort that I may help those in suffering.
Encourage me in the trials and misery to which I am daily exposed.
Grant that I may always use my power and influence for good,
and let no human being ever deter me from the performance of my sacred duty in accord with your Holy Law. Amen
A Pharmacist Prayer
Lord, As I work behind this counter
may I feel Your presence here.
And help me to fill each prescription
with knowledge, caution and cheer.
And may I always be humbled
by the privilege that is mine
of making a life more comfortable and healthier
and with a greater peace of mind.
For all who seek assistance
Give me wisdom to meet their needs.
And for each encounter
I pray that I shall follow as You, Lord, lead. Amen
Science
Science from Latin scientia, meaning “knowledge” is a systematic enterprise that builds and organises knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe.
The earliest roots of science can be traced to the works of Ancient Egyptians and Mesopotamians, whose contributions entered and shaped Greek natural philosophy of classical antiquity. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, knowledge of Greek science deteriorated in Western Europe during the Middle Ages but thrived in the Islamic Golden Age. The recovery and assimilation of Greek and Islamic science into Western Europe during the 10th to 13th century preceded the revival of natural philosophy in the West, which continued to develop as the precursor of natural science from the Renaissance through the 19th century. Since the 17th century, scientific knowledge gradually became associated with the scientific method and was increasingly being formulated in terms of physical laws. Particularly in the 19th century, multiple distinguishing characteristics of contemporary science began to emerge.
Modern science is typically divided into three major branches that consist of the natural sciences (e.g. biology, chemistry, physics), which study nature in the broadest sense; the social sciences (e.g. psychology, sociology, economics), which study individuals and societies; and the formal sciences (e.g. mathematics, logic, theoretical computer science), which study abstract concepts. There is disagreement, however, on whether the formal sciences actually constitute a science as they do not rely on empirical evidence. Disciplines that use science, such as engineering and medicine, are described as applied sciences.
Science is related to research and is commonly organised by academic and research institutions as well as government agencies and companies. The practical impact of scientific research has led to the emergence of science policies that seek to influence the scientific enterprise by prioritising the development of commercial products, armaments, health care, and environmental protection.
The Scientist Prayer
Lord, we know that you as our Creator have chosen to reveal to mankind, partly through the study of the biological and physical sciences, limited insight into the processes and the world you have created.
Lord, we also know that due to our sinful natures, mankind has taken this information you have so graciously revealed and used it to elevate our intellectual pride rather than glorify you.
Lord, so we may be humbled before you, we ask that you direct our research to reveal information that may be used to glorify you as our Creator.
We specifically pray that this information will influence those trained in the sciences and scientific method to come to realize and accept the inerrancy of your written word and the saving grace you offer to all.
Though this is our specific prayer, we ask that your will be done in everything that we do. Amen.
Strategy to Pray
Start with these prayers below and then go through the following sections and uphold everyone working in these areas in your prayers – meditate on the scriptures as you go:
Prayer for Health Professionals
Scripture Reading: Psalm 100, Acts 5:12-16
Reflections of the Heart: “To array a man’s will against his sickness is the supreme art of medicine.”
A scriptural prayer by Martin H. Fischer, German-American Physician and Author:
Wonderful Father, thank You for showing us the wonders of Your unfailing love.
Thank You for hearing our cry for mercy and answering our call for help.
Thank You for the health professionals in our nation. We thank You for doctors, nurses, researchers, scientists, hospital administrators, therapists, pharmacists, medical assistants, paramedics, and medical technicians.
By Your wisdom, You have strategically equipped and anointed men and women with expertise in medicine, science, nutrition, pharmacy, surgery, rehabilitation, and counselling.
Lord, You made the heavens Your throne; You rule over everything from there. Your angels praise You, Lord. Your mighty ones who carry out Your plans, listen for each of Your commands. Lord, everything that You created will praise You; everything in Your Kingdom! Let all that we are praise You!
All-Wise Father, by faith, we decree that just as the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, feared and obeyed You, the health professionals in our nation will not succumb to the pressure to compromise; but they will remain committed to their oath to “do no harm.”
As they believe in the promises of Your Word, and as they ask You, You will tell them remarkable secrets about things to come in their profession. They will be pioneers in discovering cures and medical breakthroughs for our generation.
By faith, we decree that they will seek Your wisdom and knowledge and always pursue excellence in their chosen fields. They will be dedicated to the proper care and treatment of their patients and they will remember to show their patients mercy, just as You have shown mercy to them.
For those health professionals who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we confess that they will receive the Good News of the Gospel and confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead, so that they will be saved.
Holy Spirit, remind our health professionals not to trust in human wisdom; but in the power of God.
Please comfort the hearts of those who have recently lost a patient who was under their care. Keep them guarded against the torment of blame and guilt.
Teach them to take care of themselves physically and mentally, so that they can keep up with the rigors of their daily responsibilities. Heal the emotional wounds that come along with their jobs.
Give them the boldness they need to stand up for their patients’ rights and to contribute significantly to the pursuit of healthcare reform in our country.
Remind our Godly health professionals that they represent the Kingdom of God in the healthcare industry, so their demeanor and behaviour reflects Kingdom principles.
(List the names of the healthcare professionals that you know personally and pray for their specific needs:)
Beloved Father, forgive those health professionals who have been prideful and arrogant, taking Your glory for themselves.
Forgive those who have been more concerned with financial gain than being a servant.
Forgive those who have neglected to do their jobs in excellence and who have placed the lives of others in jeopardy by cutting corners and taking shortcuts.
Forgive those who have failed to show compassion while working with the loved ones of their patients.
Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).
Holy Spirit, remind the health professionals of our nation of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.
As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)
Loving Father, help the health professionals in our nation not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.
Lord of Glory, You alone are God. You are the First and the Last.
It was Your hand that laid the foundations of the earth. Your right hand spread out the heavens above. When You call out the stars, they all appear in order.
You alone can never die and You live in light so brilliant that no human can approach You. No human eye has ever seen You, nor ever will.
All honor and power is Yours forever, Lord! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God is the author of all healing power in Health, Science and Medicine.
Divine Father, how our hearts yearn to express our love for you! Thank You for Your grace.
Thank You for knowing exactly what we need before we even ask.
Thank You for never abandoning us or leaving our children begging for bread. Thank You for being our faithful source.
We have always been able to depend on your goodness. We take delight in You, Lord.
We commit everything we do to you because we know we can trust you to help us.
You direct our steps and you delight in every detail of our lives.
Even though we sometimes stumble, we will never fall because you hold us by your hand.
You love us with an unfailing love and your faithfulness endures forever.
We find comfort in knowing that the very hairs on our heads are all numbered.
Therefore, we are not afraid because we know how much you value us.
We praise You Lord, for you have shown us the wonders of your unfailing love!

Paramedics in Australia
A paramedic in Australia is a health care professional who responds to and treats all types of medical and trauma emergencies outside of a hospital setting before and during transportation to an appropriate medical facility. Paramedics also work in the inter-facility transport environment where a paramedic will continue or upgrade medical care to a higher level while transporting a patient from one healthcare facility to another. Paramedics are able to treat patients in the pre-hospital setting, and can transport them to a hospital-based emergency department if deemed necessary. In Australia, use of the term “paramedic” is not restricted, registered or licensed.
Scripture: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” [Galatians 6:2]
Nursing in Australia
A career in nursing is challenging while also rewarding as it involves helping sick individuals become healthy again. There are many ways of becoming a nurse in Australia, including TAFE or university courses. As there are many people in need of nurses nationwide, there are always jobs available for nurses. Nurses in Australia have many places they can work in, this includes hospitals and schools, with the opportunity to have flexible work hours. The salary of a nurse in Australia depends on what type of nurse they are and their years of experience. There are multiple career pathways one may follow within nursing such as paediatrics, intensive care, oncology, and emergency nursing.
Pray for those who dedicate their lives to caring for others in Nursing.
Scripture: “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” [3 John 1:2]
Mental Health Care
Mental illness is a health problem that significantly affects how a person thinks, behaves and interacts with other people. It is diagnosed according to standardised criteria. One in 5 Australians will suffer from a mental illness in any given year. A mental health problem also affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves, but to a lesser extent than a mental illness. Mental illnesses are of different types and degrees of severity. Some of the major types are:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Schizophrenia
- Bipolar mood disorder
- Personality disorders
- Eating disorders
Prayer:
Lord, only you know how hard life has been for many Australians who suffer Mental Health issues.
Only you have seen each moment of their day and night.
Only you feel their pain and understand their discomfort.
Only you are beside them through their grieves and sorrows.
Only you have been within each moment to comfort them.
O Lord, break through the loneliness of their suffering.
You have encountered sorrow and laid a glorious path
Of hope, healing and the promise of heaven in their hearts. Amen
Scripture: “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” [Matthew 25:40]
National Disability Assistance Scheme (NDIS)
The NDIS was introduced a few years ago by the Australian Government to improve the provision of Mental Care services, but there are serious complaints that the system has gaps and many vulnerable people are not receiving any or sufficient care.
Scripture: “Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” [Philippians 4:6-7]
Pray for transformation of the Mental Care system:
God our Father, Provider and Sustainer,
we lift to you a care system in crisis.
You ask us to love one another,
but we’ve sat back and let a failing system take our place.
You call us to protect the vulnerable and the poor,
but we’ve stood by and watched it ignore those most in need.
You teach us to respect the wisdom of older people,
but we’ve allowed it to strip their dignity.
Father, forgive us.
We stand now to ask for your help –
for those who are hurting, lonely, frightened or anxious;
for those in need of care.
We pray for a new system that puts people first,
and provides care simply and easily to those who need it.
We pray for a fair and straightforward system
which doesn’t discriminate by location,
or favour only those who can understand its complexity.
Hear our prayer, and the cry of those in need. Amen.
(Based on a prayer from http://www.thesanctuarycentre.org/)
Rural & Remote Health Care
Health experts agreed that the core primary care services which should be available to those living in rural and remote communities included care of the sick and injured, mental health, maternal/child health, allied health, sexual/reproductive health, rehabilitation, oral/dental health and public health/illness prevention. These communities do not have exactly same access to health and medical services – particularly specialist and rarely used services – located in metropolitan communities should not matter if they are able to readily access high quality primary health care services.
Scripture: Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” [Matthew 11:28-29]
Pharmacies and Pharmacists
Pharmacies (also called Chemists) in Australia are mostly independently owned by pharmacists, often operated as franchises of retail brands offered by the three major pharmaceutical wholesalers in Australia: Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API), Sigma Pharmaceuticals, and Symbion Health. A minority of pharmacies are owned by friendly societies, particularly in Victoria and South Australia. Chemist Warehouse is a major disruptor and is a low frills store similar to Aldi in the grocery/supermarket sector.
- API brands: Pharmacist Advice, Priceline Pharmacies, Soul Pattinson
- Sigma brands: Amcal, Discount Drug Stores, Guardian Pharmacies
- Symbion brands: Chemmart Pharmacy, Terry White Chemists
- Other Chains: Pharmacy 4 Less, Chemistworks, National Pharmacies South Australia, Pharmasave, Quality Pharmacy Group, SmarterPharm Group, Cincotta Discount Chemist
Remember all these and your local pharmacies in your prayer time. Include pharmacists you know who provide good care of customers. The Lord is the Lord of Chemists in Australia. Amen.
Scripture: “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. Then his fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.“ [Matthew 4:23-24]
National Men’s and Women’s Health
The Australian Government has committed to developing National Men’s and Women’s Health Policies, to ensure that specific health needs of both men and women are addressed. The policies were developed in consultation with state and territory governments, health service providers, consumer and advocacy groups and the community.

Scripture: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies.” [1 Corinthians 19-20]
Pregnancy Support and Counselling
Pregnancy, Birth and Baby is a telephone helpline and online service that provides access to information and support for women, their partners and families on pregnancy and the first 12 months of a baby’s life. Where appropriate, the helpline directs callers to maternity-related services including specialist and support services. The helpline offers counselling on general antenatal and postnatal issues, non-directive counselling on pregnancy options and will put you in touch with local specialist and support services if further assistance is required.
Remember in prayer all people who are on these helplines, pray for all people working in this service and ask God to bless them.
Scripture: “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” [Jeremiah 17:7-8 ]
A Prayer for Pregnant Women
God of Infinite Goodness, watch over expectant mothers as they await the birth of their child.
Grant these women confidence and strength to dispel their anxiety and fear. Bless them with the courage and faith of Mary, always listening to your will and trusting in your loving care. As they prepare to bring new life into the world, grace them with good health and great joy. We look to you and your Son, Jesus Christ, as a sign of mercy and joy. We ask this through the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes in the name of your Son, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. AMEN.
Scripture: “When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.” Proverbs 3:24
Divine Mercy for the Unborn who Die in the Womb
For all helpless little children who die in the womb of their mother, I pray that all of these little souls will be given eternal life by Our Lord, Jesus Christ, through His Divine Mercy and I beg Jesus that I be allowed to spiritually baptize a little soul born dead and I do so by saying: I baptize you (give name, preferably a saint’s name) in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit… “I have called you by your name, you are Mine!” [Isiah 43:1]
Scripture: “Have compassion on me, Lord, for I am weak. Heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.” [Psalm 6:2]
Aged Care in Australia
Aged Care in Australia (also known as Elderly Care), is the provision of services to meet the unique needs of older people in Australia. It includes both residential aged care (nursing homes) as well as services provided in the home such as personal care, domestic assistance, home nursing, nutrition and meal preparation, respite services, continence management, mobility & dexterity assistance, transport, social support and the provision of equipment and aids. In Australia, many aged care services are government subsidised to help keep costs manageable and affordable. Australians who are eligible for government subsidies to help fund the costs of aged care services will still be expected to contribute to the cost of services if they can afford to.
Scripture: “Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip.” [Isaiah 60:4]
Prayer for the Sick and Seniors
All praise and glory are yours,
Lord our God.
For you have called us to serve you, and one another in love.
Bless our sick today so that they may bear their illness
in union with Jesus’ sufferings and restore them quickly to health.
Bless those who have grown old in your service
and give them courage and strength in their faith.
Lead us all to eternal glory.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.
Scripture: “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” [Proverbs 16:24]
Home Care
Home Care Packages provides long-term help to allow people to stay independent in their own home as long as possible and offer four levels of care packages to support people with basic, low, intermediate, and high care needs. Depending on the level of support needed, an aged care services provider can work with an individual to create a care plan tailored to their needs.
If a person only requires short-term help or some assistance with daily activities around the home, the Commonwealth Home Support Programme allows them to access the specific services they need, when they need them. The Commonwealth Home Support Programme lets the older person choose the services they need as required.
Services available (pray for each and the people working in each):
- Personal care
- Domestic assistance
- Nutrition and meal preparation
- Continence management
- Mobility and dexterity assistance
- Nursing, allied health and other health services
- Transport and assistance getting around in their community
- Provision of equipment and aids
- Assistive technology
- Social support
- Flexible (Carer) respite
Scripture: “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” [Galatians 6:10]
Palliative Care
“The goal of palliative care is to improve the quality of life of patients with an active, progressive disease that has little or no prospect of a cure. With the growth and ageing of Australia’s population, and an increase of chronic and generally incurable illnesses, the types of patient groups requiring palliative care has widened.” (from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare https://www.aihw.gov.au/reports/palliative-care-services/palliative-care-services-in-australia/contents/summary)
Scripture: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” [2 Corinthians 1:3-4]
Prayers for the Sick Near Death
Almighty and Everlasting God, preserver of souls, who dost correct those whom Thou dost love, and for their betterment dost tenderly chastise those whom Thou dost receive, we call upon Thee, O Lord, to grant Thy healing, that the soul of Thy servant, at the hour of its departure from the body, may by the hands of Thy holy Angels be presented without spot unto Thee. Amen.
God,
Help {insert name) discover your peace.
Let them receive your comfort.
Help them to be at rest knowing that you care for them,
and that you love them.
Calm their soul as they move into the afterlife.
May they spend eternity with you;
may they live forever in your presence. Amen.
Scripture: “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” [John 11:25-26]
Euthanasia in Australia
Euthanasia is illegal in Australia but Australian states can legislate on the issue. It was legal for a period in the Northern Territory and in November 2017 legislation to allow assisted suicide passed the Parliament of Victoria but will not come into effect until mid-2019. A patient can elect not to receive any treatment for a terminal illness and can also elect to have their life support turned off.
Pray for this organisation “HOPE”: Hope is a coalition of groups and individuals who oppose the legalisation of euthanasia and assisted suicide and support measures that will make euthanasia and assisted suicide unthinkable.
Read also the Myths and Facts of Euthanasia at https://www.catholic.org.au/bishops-commission-for-pastoral-life/alternative-to-euthanasia
Pray to stop the legalisation of Euthanasia.
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us all our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory
for ever and ever. Amen.
Scripture: “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death.” [Psalm 107:19-20]
Prayer for Those at the End of Life
Dear Jesus,
You walked on the earth, understood the broken world, yet also rose from death into resurrected life. I pray for my loved one that they would be held at this time in your loving arms. Bless the work of the doctors, surgeons and hospital staff, and bring the power of your resurrection life into their body. Come fill my loved one from top to toe with your restorative Spirit. May your resurrection life bring healing and wellness into their being. May your grace carry them through this hard time into a new season filled with hope and joy. Amen
Scripture: “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good thing, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” [Psalm 103:1-5]

Australian Paradox
The ‘Australian Paradox’ is a term coined in 2011 to describe what its proponents claim are diverging trends in sugar consumption and obesity rates in Australia. The term was first used in a 2011 study published in Nutrients by Professor Jennie Brand-Miller, in which she and co-author Dr Alan Barclay reported that, in Australia, “a substantial decline in refined sugars intake occurred over the same timeframe that obesity has increased. The “paradox” in its name refers to the fact that sugar consumption is often considered (for example by Robert Lustig) to be a significant contributor to rising obesity rates,[2] and because ecological studies in the United States have found a positive relationship between sugar consumption and obesity prevalence.
Scripture: “For I am the Lord who heals you.” [Exodus 15:26]
Eye Health
Eye health conditions are very common in Australia, and may be present from birth, as a result of illness or injury, or developed over time. Five common eye health conditions affecting Australians are cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and uncorrected refractive error. Living with a vision disorder may cause disadvantage due to delayed childhood learning, reduced participation in education and employment, and social isolation.
Pray that God restore the eyesight of people who are blind in this nation and help researches finding the best method for them. We pray for more provision, more support and total healing
Scripture: Meditate on John 9 where Jesus heals a man born blind
Rheumatic Heart Disease
Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) is chronic damage to the valves of the heart, caused by repeated episodes of acute rheumatic fever (ARF). ARF is caused by an auto-immune
While ARF is rare in industrialised countries, it remains a significant cause of disease in Australia among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. Poor living conditions make streptococcal infections and therefore ARF, more likely. Known risk factors include poverty, overcrowding and limited access to medical care for diagnosis and treatment. Prevalence of RHD is also high among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. To address the high rates of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) among Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, the Australian Government is funding the Rheumatic Fever Strategy.
Pray to remove the curses of this disease and pray for healing and restoration on people who suffer it:
Scripture: “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” [1 Peter 5:10]
Through your Son’s resurrection, you transformed suffering and death into new life and glory; and invite us to join our own pain and struggles to those of Jesus. Increase the faith and hope of all who are suffering, especially those living with chronic illness and pain. Strengthen and confirm in them the promise of new life and glory.
Pray for Indigenous Health
The First Peoples of Australia have disproportionately high rates of diseases and mental disorders, and their lifespan is on average lower than the Australian general population. The remoteness of many indigenous communities is part of the problem, but poor absorption and application of health and lifestyle education is also a major factor.
Pray for these of God’s children who were here before the arrival of Europeans and people from other lands.

Has anything been done like this great thing, or has anything been heard like it?” Deuteronomy 4:30-32
