Business and Finances in God’s Kingdom –
Time & Supernatural Power!
(by Greg Levett)
Time is the most valuable commodity given to us by God, yet time is something beyond the control of man. Whilst it’s our responsibility to effectively manage the 24 hours each one is given per day; time remains a mystery. Yet when it comes to success of any business, time is the principal thing. With good time management, comes responsibility and good stewardship. God is not looking for perfect businesspeople, but rather He is looking for good stewards of time that He may establish them in His business and His management plan.
I come from a business background and until recent times, I didn’t realize that time and God go hand in hand. I started my home loan business about twenty years ago and never figured out why it was always on the edge of the road. I pulled every string only to bounce back on the edge, where traffic doesn’t move as efficiently. Moses, in his only Psalm wrote, “So teach us to number our days Lord that we may gain a heart of wisdom”, Psalm 90:12 NKJV
I believe every businessperson should each morning ask for wisdom and understanding; wisdom to prioritize and understanding to act. Such wisdom puts first things first, which is seeking His kingdom first, and understanding that all the things we desire shall be given to us (Matthew 6:33).
Wisdom watches the season and understanding jumps in to avoid hesitation. Many businesses collapse due to hesitation. Others call it risk but I call it understanding. There is no such word as “risk” in the bible. When one is walking with the Holy Spirit there is no risk, as “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose”, Romans 8:28.
For a business to flourish, there must be a continuous flow of prayers with bold decisions and hence a balanced business. Once one hesitates to act, the business losses rhythm, momentum and consequently, a wide door opens to its collapse. Sure, it’s good to always not rush in, but to ask the Lord for direction. His direction will minimize hesitation which is often traced back to eternal fear to commit. In that case, let His peace be the umpire.
Jacob had twelve sons, who were all good in different spheres but when it came to understanding the times for Israel to do business, it was the sons of Issachar who understood the times to know what Israel ought to do and at what time to do it (1 Chronicles 12:32).
The sons of Issachar watched the times, like a clock on your wall or wrist, they had rhythm. They compromised not with hesitation and once placed in the right positions, Israel flourished. David saw this in them and placed them in the significant positions of his army, not as ordinary armour bearers but as commanders.
At the beginning of the lockdown, my wife, Lizzie, and I started a daily online prayer meeting which took two hours each day out of my time for business. While I welcomed the idea, yet deep in me I was wondering how I was going to make up for that time. I continued to be led by my Lord, being faithful to our daily open prayer meeting and to my surprise, God multiplied the business. By the end of the month, I had not lost a cent but instead, I had made more money than ever before.
I have come to understand that we serve a God of justice who balances the scales. The word Justice means deserved reward and our God is a faithful rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).
It’s my prayer that more Christians rise into business, keeping in mind that our God is a good God. Furthermore, it’s my prayer that every businessman/woman is filled with the spirit as of Issachar’s sons to do the Kingdom business that all may go well, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers’’, 3 John 2.
Another important way to succeed in business or even maximize your effectiveness in life is by adding to your devotional time with the Lord a daily habit of speaking in tongues. The more we speak in tongues or pray in the Spirit, the closer the Holy Spirit walks with us toward the destination of His “Perfect Will” for our lives.
The term “Perfect Will” is only used once in the bible in Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
You may want all three: the good, the acceptable and the perfect. Easy- pray in the Spirit, speak with other tongues, walk with the Spirit and all the three will surface. Through our daily online prayer meeting, we have seen and heard so many testimonies from prayer warriors all over the world. Testimonies ranging from salvation, to a person being raised from the dead, to another inheriting multiple millions of British Pounds, across to healings and needs met supernaturally.
This is a direct result of committing an hour or two each day speaking in the supernatural language of the Holy Spirit. The same language that birthed the church and the same Holy Spirit who has sustained and increased the footprint of the church on this planet, so do we daily speak with other tongues.
We can live our lives as a “Living Sacrifice”, but the power of agreement when joining with others in a corporate prayer meeting, speaking in tongues is like replacing a 4-cylinder motor engine with a big V8. It’s good to know that Lilian and Bjorn Schmid are at present running a spiritual warfare course which is precisely to develop the corporate prayer muscle, God bless them.
Against this background, my wife and I invite you to join us during your lunch hour time to pray with us in the spirit. Even if you commit 15 minutes a day and increase from there, the outcome will be tremendous. The Holy Spirit is waiting for you to allow Him to speak through you, and once you do this, you will start experiencing the Blessing of the Lord that makes one rich and adds no sorrow following you (Proverbs 10:22).
So, pop in any day of the week even weekends between 12-2pm AEDT. See you there 😊
Blessed in Him,
Greg n Lizzie Levett
Scripture Reflection
(all references from the New International Version)
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”
So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6)
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10)
For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones. (Proverbs 2:6-8)
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. (Romans 8:5)
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:31-34)
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24)
Prayer
(adapted from ‘The Sanctuary’ archive)
Lord Jesus let your light shine
Into the corridors of power in all business and investment companies,
Through the closed doors of boardrooms and share-holder meetings
And into the cosy corners of power lunches and board meetings.
Lord Jesus let your light shine
Between the lines of companies’ policies, between all deals, business projects, money investments
Into the hearts and motives behind national, multi-national and international deals and decisions
Into the hearts of economic and financial decision makers and making.
Lord Jesus let your light shine
Into the hearts of workers, into the hearts of trade people
Revealing the worth of each worker,
Illuminating the benefits of your good practice,
Shining the pathway to righteous decisions
And prospering all who follow its narrow, and life-giving wisdom.
Amen, be glorified Lord Jesus!
Greg and Lizzie, thank you for this post, most encouraging! My routine is ‘developing’ having retired last July. Presently, I try to do a prayer walk 4 or 5 times a week, about an hour each day. It is most wonderful! In your post, “So teach us to number our days Lord that we may gain a heart of wisdom”, Psalm 90:12 NKJV, spoke to me most powerfully. My greatest focus is not however business but politics and the forthcoming general election here in Australia.
Bless you Jim!
Amen and Amen 🤲 I received and believe Man of God. I was inspired by God’s message through you sir. More grace. I certainly will reply you via the mail the assignment you dropped me. Thank you richly sir
Keep speaking in tongues brother. You will discover the Holy Spirit will walk you deeper into His perfect will.
