Scriptures on the Sphere of Education
(collected by Lilian Schmid)
Meditate on the following Bible scriptures during August as we pray for the Sphere of Education (all quotations from the ESV).
“Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.” (Proverbs 4:13)
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
“Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3)
“You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” (Deuteronomy 11:19)
“An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.” (Proverbs 18:15)
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,” (2 Timothy 3:16)
“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.” (Proverbs 9:9)
“See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.” (Colossians 2:8)
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
“As for these four youths, God gave them learning and skill in all literature and wisdom, and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.” (Daniel 1:17)
“The wise lay up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool brings ruin near.” (Proverbs 10:14)
“Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.”” (Exodus 4:12)
“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4)
“and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)
Anointed for Love
(an extract from For His Glory by Lilian Schmid, available on Amazon & Kindle)
When God gives you an anointing, no man can take it away from you, and when He lifts you up, no one can touch you (per Revelation 3:7). David was a mere shepherd boy when God anointed him with a kingly anointing (1 Samuel 16:11-13).
There are many people who support you, believe in you and trust your mission given to you by God. There are others who may try to steal your anointing, but God promised to protect you and protect His anointed.
I was and am still blessed to have many people who prayed for me and with me over the years, leaders from different church denominations who believed in my missions together with my husband as a couple. My husband Bjorn supported me all the time and we always did missions together. I don’t think I could continue without him. Bjorn is my lover and protector. He was willing to sacrifice and work hard for all the missions I was involved in. We never asked anyone for money or donations. God was always faithful to us, and my husband worked hard to support our missions financially, emotionally, and physically.
When you are called by the Lord, I ask you to move, rise up, and take up your spiritual weapons that He has given you. God has ordained each one of you to do the battle and win it.
- The love of Christ casts out fear,
- The love of Christ casts out doubt,
- The love of Christ casts out division,
- The love of Christ brings repentance,
- The love of Christ brings revival,
- The love of Christ then brings transformation.
Reflection
You have the anointing of God flowing through you when God’s heart touches another person’s heart through your heart. The anointing of God is the Holy Spirit; He flows as a river of love, from the throne of grace, through the hearts of believers, bringing life to all that receive His touch. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is given through people to demonstrate God’s love and power. ‘Christ’ means the ‘Anointed One’; because Christ is in us, the same anointing that He had on earth, we also have on us.
God anoints people that love Him more than they love their own lives, and that love others as themselves. As we open our hearts to love others, God’s anointing flows through us. When we close our hearts to others, we grieve the Holy Spirit, and the flow stops.
Keep your anointing alive and protect it.
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;”
(Luke 4:18 NKJV)
“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?”
(1 John 3:16-17 NKJV)
“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”
(Proverbs 4:23 NKJV)
You are anointed, why?
- The anointing is given to preach the Gospel to the poor,
- The anointing is given to heal and restore people,
- The anointing is given to proclaim freedom to the captives,
- The anointing is given to open blind eyes,
- The anointing is given to set people free.
The anointing flows in God’s timing and proclaims God’s timing.
Pray for Religious Education in Schools
A prayer for Catechists, SRE Teachers, Chaplains, Counsellors in child education centres:
Loving God, Creator of all things,
you called us to be in relationship with you and others.
Thank you for calling us to be Christian Educators
for the opportunity to share with others
what you have given to us.
May all those with whom we share the gift of faith
discover how you are present in all things.
May they come to know you, the one true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
May the grace of the Holy Spirit guide our hearts and lips,
so that we may remain constant in loving and praising you.
May we be a witness to the Gospel and ministers of your truth.
May all our words and actions reflect your love.
Amen.
Pray for Tertiary Educators and Intuitions
Pray for colleges, universities, and other post-school education facilities across your community, city, and country. Much of these programs are planned and provided to shape the future of our young people.
In Australia the state and federal governments fund and administer TAFE (Technical and Further Education) and University institutions and courses:
- TAFE courses tafecourses.com.au
- University courses:
If you live outside Australia, why not research and adopt the education institutions and courses in your own country?
Pray also for the boldness, strength, and protection of Christian groups and fellowships in these study campuses – they provide a safe place for believers, and potential believers, away from the multitude of worldly distractions and temptations that are continually thrown at staff and students. Often life-long fellowships and marriages are formed in these groups.
God is calling us to stand in the gap and pray for each course and for all the people who are teaching and coordinating, and for the students who have registered to study. Adopting the programs and people in tertiary intuitions for prayer is God’s mission to establish His kingdom in each course offered; let the fire of the Holy Spirit move across our campuses.
