(by Lilian Schmid – all Bible references from the New International Version except where noted)
This month we are discussing and praying for the sphere of Health and Science; my message here is on Healing.
In 2007 the Lord put in my heart to establish a new ministry called ‘Business Women Healing Ministry’. I ran forums every month for almost three years and gave talks in a number of churches and venues in different locations. Many women who attended these forums were healed; they shared their stories with me and how God healed them from suffering, emotional traumas, physical abuse, and other issues; including impacts from abortion. I believe because we live in this world that has rebelled against God and are all ‘touched’ by the dust of the world, each one of us need healing, and it is a continuous process.
Drink From the ‘River That Makes Glad’ – Psalm 46
Psalm 46 is a wonderful tool for inner healing prayer. It has some meditating lines that are well-known by most followers of Christ. But the most benefit comes when we meditate on the whole psalm, it helps us to go deeper and further on it and makes it more profoundly available to us for personal prayer.
If we take the words, insights, structure, and rhythms of Psalm 46
into our bodies and minds and then we open our heart to God in a special time of prayer it is truly remarkable how God can use this psalm to bring us His healing! By reading this psalm and reflecting on every word of it, you allow the spirit of God penetrate inside you and heal you.
Psalm 46 offers us the river that makes “glad the city of God” (Psalm 46:1). This is part of the Kingdom of God, the ultimate and eternal refuge and fortress for all who call on the Lord. Indeed, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
Is God there? Does He listen to us when we ask for Healing?
Sometimes we go through suffering, we feel as if God is not hearing us, or it may feel like God has not been our refuge. God is there when we need him. He is waiting on us to ask Him.
Sometimes people are slow to open up to the power of God. They feel deep down that they don’t really matter to anyone, let alone God. They feel isolated and don’t really expect that anything good is going to happen to them. We know for sure that God heals, not just because He has the power to do so, but because He is compassionate. He knows and He cares, but we need to be patient, wait on Him and believe.
In Exodus 15 we read:
Then Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became fit to drink.
There the Lord issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test. He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.”
Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.
(Exodus 15:25-27)
God loves us so much and many scriptures in the Bible reminds us of God’s love for us; in the fact that Christ died on the cross to take away our sins. ‘By His stripes we are healed’, Isaiah 53 sums it up so beautifully:
Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
(Isaiah 53:4-5)
Reflection & Prayer
I have chosen this a prayer exercise to help you worry less and trust God more for your healing.
Read Psalm 139:1-12
Commence with a brief prayer asking the Holy Spirit to lead you and guide you, and to help you to understand what it is that the Lord wants you to hear at this time, for yourself and/or for others.
Ask Him to heal your hurts, your inner pain, your physical pain, your emotions. Give Him yourself and be in unity with the Holy Spirit. Healing will come.
God, investigate my life;
get all the facts firsthand.
I’m an open book to you;
even from a distance, you know what I am thinking.
You know when I leave, and when I get back;
I’m never out of your sight.
You know everything I’m going to say
before I start the first sentence.
I look behind me and you’re there,
then up ahead and you’re there, too –
your reassuring presence, coming and going.
This is too much, too wonderful –
I can’t take it all in!
Is there any place I can go to avoid your Spirit?
to be out of your sight?
If I climb to the sky, you’re there!
If I go underground, you’re there!
If I flew on morning’s wings
to the far western horizon,
You’d find me in a minute –
you’re already there waiting!
Then I said to myself, ‘Oh, he even sees in the dark!
At night I’m immersed in the light!’
It’s a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you;
night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you.
(Psalms 139:1-12 MSG)
I will never forget how you helped me! Your a true Woman of God and your healing ministry saved me
