Prayer Calendar - August

PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR EASE OF READING I HAVE USED THE WORD 'SCHOOLS' TO COVER ALL LEARNING INSTITUTIONS FROM PRE-SCHOOL THROUGH TO TERTIARY IN BOTH GOVERNMENT AND PRIAVE SECTORS OF EDUCATION.

Day in August

  1. Declare Thy kingdom come thy will be done in our schools as it is in heaven!
    Luke 11:2 "So He said to them, 'When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.'"
  2. Pray for all those who are in authority in Government positions; Federal minister for Education Christopher Pyne and State ministers for Education.
    1 Timothy 2:1-2 "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence."
  3. Praise God for His faithfulness in the past in opening doors for Christian influence in our schools.
    Pray that the doors stay open and for all Christian influences into schools to be protected and to increase. These Christian influences include but are not limited to, Chaplaincy programmes, SRE teachers, Scripture Union, local church holiday programmes etc.
    Psalm 119:90 "Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides."
  4. Pray for Christian teachers.
    Pray for their relationship with the Lord to be strengthened that they be shining lights for Him, bold, full of wisdom with miracles confirming the Word of God that is spoken.
    Isaiah 61:1-3 "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."
  5. Pray for labourers to be raised up for the harvest:
    More Christian classroom teachers ,scripture teachers, Chaplains, youth workers etc.
    Matthew 9:38 "Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest."
  6. Pray for Christian students; that they be bold and not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for their relationship with the Lord to be strong so that their faith is not compromised. Pray that they have courage to witness to peers and to teachers. Pray that Christian students initiate prayer groups and Bible studies.
    Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek."
  7. Pray protection over our schools; for ministering angels to be stationed at schools and for all ungodly influences to be bound by the Power of the Holy Spirit.
    Fear proof our schools by praying for the love of God to be known and to be shed abroad in hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit.
    1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love."
  8. Pray for all those who make decisions on curriculums and text books that the content presented to students be honouring to the Lord.
    2 Corinthians 10:5 "casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,"
  9. Pray for Christian parents to be full of the love of God, bold and full of wisdom, ministering the love of Jesus Christ to the school community.
    Pray that they choose to be in significant positions e.g. on school boards and committees where they can influence decisions in a Godly way.
    Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
  10. Pray for teachers, school principals, university lecturers to have wisdom from the Lord.
    Ephesians 1:17 "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,"
  11. Pray for the fear of the Lord to fall upon all those involved in Education.
    Proverbs 3:7 "Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and depart from evil."
    Psalm 111:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."
  12. Praise the Lord for all Christian places of learning.
    Pray that these institutions increase in influence across the nation and that they continue to find favour from government bodies.
    Proverbs 29:25 "Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept."
  13. Pray for all Christian workers in schools, (e.g. youth workers and scripture teachers) for the love of God to have flow out of them and for them to abound with Godly wisdom and boldness .
    2 Corinthians 4:7 "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us."
  14. Pray for the salvation of students and teachers.
    John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
  15. Pray for protection over hearts and minds of students, that they will discern truth and be protected from the spirit of the world.
    Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is s any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things."
  16. Pray that the celebration of Easter and Christmas will be upheld at all schools.
    Psalm 148:13 "Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted!"
  17. Pray for prayer groups to be raised up in all schools.
  18. Declare Jesus Christ is Lord! over the schools of our nation.
  19. Pray that all content taught aligns with the truth of God's word. E.g. that the history syllabus accurately reflects the Christian heritage that Australia is blessed with; that in science, creation is taught as truth.
    John 16:13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth;"
  20. Pray for the future of all students. That they will follow the plan that the Lord has for them.
    Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
  21. Praise God that He is our comforter.
    Pray that the Holy Spirit permeates all schools bringing comfort to teachers, and students and the entire school community wherever it is needed.
    John 14:16 (AMP) "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor or, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever"
  22. Declare Psalm 24:7-10 over the schools of our nation.
    Lift up your heads, O you gates!
    And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
    And the King of glory shall come in.
    Who is this King of Glory?
    The Lord strong and mighty,
    The Lord mighty in battle
    Lift up your heads, O you gates!
    And lift them up, you everlasting doors!
    And the King of glory shall come in.
    Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory.
  23. Pray that all aspects of life at our schools reflect the truth and love of our Heavenly Father.
    John 14:21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."
  24. Praise God that He is our Father.
    Pray that He is a Father to the father-less in our schools.
    1 John 3:1 "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called the children of God!"
  25. Praise the Lord that He is our healer!
    Pray that the Lord will be manifest as the healer in our schools bringing healing to those who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, illnesses and allergies.
    Psalm 103:1-3 "Bless the Lord, O my soul;
    And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
    Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all His benefits:
    Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases."
  26. Declare FREEDOM over our schools. Freedom from all forms of evil addictions.
    John 3:36 "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."
  27. Praise God for His wisdom. Pray that all decisions made by educators will be wise ones.
    Ephesians 1:17 "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,"
  28. Pray for the light of God's word to permeate every aspect of the education system, exposing and flushing out all forms, plans and schemes of evil and darkness.
    John 8:12 "Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, 'I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.'"
  29. Praise God that He is our Hope and that we are not without hope in this world. Pray that a spirit of Hope will come upon our schools and students.
    Romans 15:13 "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
  30. Praise God that we are equipped and able to enforce the victory that He purchased for us at Calvary.
    2 Corinthians 10:4-6 "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled."
  31. Pray for all those involved in Education to have a revelation regarding the Glory of God.
    Habakkuk 2:14 "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."
