May 2013 - Law and Justice

The Domain of Law and Justice includes the Court System, Police, Judges, Prisons, and other law enforcement agencies in all areas.

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." [2 Chronicles 7:14]

"Prayer has always played a central role in the affairs of our nation. For the most part Australians have acknowledged their reliance on Almighty God, both in regard to the affairs of life and at times of death.

"Our federal and state parliaments have traditionally opened in prayer. The feasts of Christmas and Easter are times of individual and national reflection, and prayer is often an Integral part of ceremonial occasions.

"Australians have prayed as individuals, as a community, and as a nation - particularly in times of hardship and crisis."

We invite all people - including prisoners, victims, families, law enforcement personnel, law makers, those in the justice system, and all touched by the violence and distress of crime - to join in this month of prayer for Law and Justice.

Pray for all or some of the topics below each day, asking the God of Justice and Mercy to touch the hearts of all those affected by the consequences of unlawful acts.

THINGS TO PRAY FOR

Here are some suggestions:

  • Remember the name of our Lord Creator and Governor of the Universe and the Supreme Judge of the World, and call upon His Name.
  • Repent for the sins of our generation and the ones before us for not taking right stands, when policies were enacted that violated the laws of God (Daniel 9:3-19).
  • Pray that the citizens and lawmakers of our country become educated and convicted concerning the original intent of our Constitution and our godly heritage (Psalm 28:2-3).
  • Pray for godly wisdom in prayer strategies and actions concerning decisions before the Supreme Court (James 5:16).
  • Pray for the Court Justices, clerks and support staff (Isaiah 1:26).
  • Pray for the currently appointed judges and justices to render decisions according to God's law (Leviticus 19:15, Deuteronomy 25:1, II Chronicles 19:6).
  • Pray for all ungodly laws to be reversed or removed (Deuteronomy 4:1-2).
  • Pray for judges who continue to corrupt our system of justice to be removed and replaced by those who honor God's Word and laws (Psalm 105:14).
  • Pray that all judges will know Christ and make Him, the Judge of the Universe known.
  • Please pray justice will take place
  • Pray against the spirit of corruption
  • Pray that God give wisdom to our judges
  • Pray for protection for our police, firmness but fairness in their interaction with the community, and purity of the ranks
  • Pray for the NSW Police Commissioner, Andrew Scipione
  • Pray for local council sheriff's offices and officers
  • Pray that Christian ethic will be enforced
  • Pray that Christian messengers will be allowed to minister in prisons
  • Pray for prison chaplaincies
  • Pray for social agencies to work together particularly those supporting the families of prisoners eg Salvation Army
  • Pray that God will release His power to break corruptive decision making
  • Pray that God will bring justice to the nation of Australia
  • Pray for Amnesty International to regain their original focus on helping political prisoners instead of supporting immoral causes like Abortion Rights and Responsibilities of the Human Person

When God promised Abraham and his descendants that the world would belong to him, he did so, not because Abraham obeyed the Law, but because he believed and was accepted as righteous by God.

That is why we always pray for you. We ask our God to make you worthy of the life he has called you to live. May he fulfill by his power all your desire for goodness and complete your work of faith.

God offered him, so that by his blood he should become the means by which people's sins are forgiven through their faith in him. God did this in order to demonstrate that he is righteous. In the past he was patient and overlooked people's sins; but in the present time he deals with their sins, in order to demonstrate his righteousness. In this way God shows that he himself is righteous and that he puts right everyone who believes in Jesus.
