January - Family & Marriage
God instituted the family in Genesis 2:18 when He said,
"It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him."
He then formed Eve from a rib of Adam as told in verses 21-24 part of which says,
"This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
In Ephesians 5:31 God says the same thing in the New Testament.
"For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh."
During the month of January we are dedicating 31 days to pray for the domain of Family.
Join us in prayers. We take this opportunity to wish you Happy New Year and to bless your families in Jesus' name. Amen

Pray for families:
- Our governments to respect, promote & protect family life.
- For those in government to ensure that they make time for their spouse & family & to be involved.
- For Godly leadership in the family.
- That fathers would model love, faithfulness, respect & commitment to their wife both within the family unit & outside.
- For those families where distance separates family members.
- For Godly order in Christian families - First God, then spouse, then children, then work and finally everything else.
- Christian families to model love, commitment, sacrifice, support and loyalty, being those missionaries to others who look to them as role models.
- Christian men to learn & understand their responsibility for spiritual leadership & take up that role.
- Fathers to be honoured & respected - society acknowledging fathers' important role in providing for & guiding the family.
- For wives to understand & respect their husbands, loving them in response to their love and teaching their children by their example.
- For children to be taught to honour & obey their parents & respect those in authority.
- For an attitude of gratitude in families.
- For parents actively to be the moral gatekeepers for their children.
- For strength, wisdom and patience for parents.
- For forgiveness & conflict resolution to be demonstrated by parents & modelled to their children.
- For the family home to be a sanctuary where harsh words are eclipsed by words of encouragement, where members are allowed to fail knowing they are loved unconditionally.
- For family entertainment to demonstrate the benefits of family life where spouses are committed to each other & attentive to their children.
- For those homes where violence is experienced and family members abused.
